A lot of online social games don't seem to cater to those that would consider themselves "hardcore" gamers. A lot of these games are still seen as a hobby for casual gamers. It seems that Stormfall is hoping to change that. The graphical style is something that is reminiscent of some of the more challenging and adult-oriented games you will see on PC. However, does this more hardcore graphical design translate into deep and challenging gameplay? It seems that Stormfall was made to bring more people into the online real-time-strategy fold. For all intents and purposes, it is a strategy game. However, seasoned gamers are going to find almost no challenge here. It has the skeleton of a real-time-strategy game and all of the basic ideas. However, a lot of the more complicated strategy mechanics are done away with. This creates an experience that is very streamlined, but not very satisfying. Strategy games are called "strategy games" for a reason. There has to be a decent amount of opposition and challenge to get the satsfaction of your strategy being successful. However, it seems like anyone can just play this and do well. That isnt a bad thing for everyone. Casual gamers will probably have a blast and will play for hours on end. With that being said, seasoned gamers may not have the best time with this. There are a few things that may make the hardcore gamers feel a bit better though. There seems to be a fairly big emphasis on the plot. For any online game, that seems to be very rare. However, its a very welcome addition. Even if the gameplay isnt entirely up to your standards, youre going to want to continue playing the game because of how engaging the story can be at times. The production isnt that bad either. There is some voice acting and there are large amounts of text that must be read to understand the story. The music is fairly well done and the narration sounds great. All in all, the actual plot and production is what may keep you hooked on this game.
